So this is my blog about going green...I am not sure exactly what all you will get to see, and hear, but I am going to give it a try. For about 5 years now I have been moving more and more in the direction of truly getting back to nature. I obviously have an extremely long way to go, but so far it has been fun and interesting. A few things that you will hear me talk about...
1. God and nature and our connection to each.
2. Natural birth and child rearing
3. Sustainable/Organic Gardening
4. Compassionate use of animals
5. What our government is doing to be green
6. Cooking
7. Cleaning products
8. Recycling
9.Renewable energy
and probably much, much more!
This is my attempt to share information with others interested in joining me on this path and to connect with others out there that can teach me as they are already farther along down the path.
(Disclaimer...I cannot be held responsible for my spelling and grammar...I blame this on our faulty education system...LOL! I have decided that what is most important is getting the content out there...besides someday I am going to have an editor and that will be their job...LOL!)
So a little about myself. I think where I really started down this path was with my children. I think it very first began in College Station with making homemade food for my son. It was my first endeavor into the culture that at that time I considered..."over protective mothers" but I didn't want to be the mom that wasn't doing it. After coming back to the Coastal Bend and going to school for a few years I got to know a fun, fun group of individuals that helped to expand my horizons in the ways of food, music, politics and culture. They taught me so much. I remember telling my good friend...there were moms I hung out with up there (in College Station)that actually cloth diapered their kids.
By the time I was ready to have my 2nd child I was fully ingrained with a think for yourself attitude and ready to take on the world. I decided I was going to have my second baby at home and definately breastfeed her. I started participating in our local La leche league. Now I want to be very careful here because I do not want to give the wrong impression about La Leche League. The point of this organization is to support and encourage breastfeeding moms. But as it turned out I really enjoyed this group of women because of the fact that they were willing to talk about so much more involved in the natural child rearing world than just breastfeeding. And before you know it I am back to making Homemade baby food, but now I AM one of those CRAZIES....Using CLOTH DIAPERS!!! As if everyone didn't already think I was crazy enough from have my child at home in the bathtub...LOL! All right that is all I can do for now...To be continued!
